Thanks so much, Jim!
A friend of mine was kind enough to give me a tripod as a gift since she knows I cannot afford one. I took these welding shots the first day I had my tripod. I was just experimenting with angles and shutter speeds.
Getting the vice grip in on the shot was actually an accident! LOL I'm glad it happened that way, but it wasn't even intentional. The sun was so bright I didn't even see it in my LCD screen until after the fact! Funny how things happen ;o)

I like this one a lot too. The lens flare from the sun and the flash of the arc relly compliment each other. You have quite an eye. And just how did you get that great depth of field? Every time I look at this picture I see something else.

NO NO... I think you made the right choice here to display the Black and white version first. I can't beleave the Depth of Field you have in this shot... WOW.. from the visegrips to the top of his head... and then the trees... WOW.. and the sun shinning through as well as the flash from the rod. You have fantastic detail in this shot.. and the tones are perfect. I hope this one takes you to a SC or and EP because I def think you deserve it. This is a fantastic photo no matter what. I see the beauty in it. BRAVO on this shot here Melanie ! ! !
