Burr, but the woodstove sounds nice. Soon we'll all be taking "snow shots" like Chris mentioned. I don't do too well in the cold. lol Dottie

NO Apologies necessary, I must have toggles the wrong project tab, I'll go fix that. As for the f-stop, I'm still getting used to the digital. I could adjust all of that on my film SLR, without looking most times, now I'm playing a lot in the field, but still really getting used to this camera. I appreciate all helpful comments and suggestions. Keep em coming! Thanks, Dottie

Wonderful asters, Dottie - the limited dof works well here to set them off. We're going to crave color like this in a few weeks. :) Well done.

Very pretty, Dottie.
Actually, this shot would better suit the minimum d.o.f. category as opposed to the maximum, as you have a very shallow depth in focus here. In fact, when you are this close to your subject, you could really do with a higher aperture number (e.g. f10 or f11), just to get all the depth of the flower head in focus. Even with the aperture set at f14-18 you would probably still get the blurred background. It just means you'd have to push the ISO up higher and/or slow the speed right down and use a tripod.
I hope this helps. My apologies if I', talking to an expert! :-)
Best regards and thanks for your kind comments,
Chris
