Hi my friend. I actually didi try the channel mixer to bring out some oomph in her, but her facial features are so strong that to make any areas lighter made her look very harsh and almost ghostly which wasn't what I was aiming for with this image. I have attached another image of her from the same time but left in the candlelight colours and you should be able to see from this what I mean by the strong areas on her face.

Thankyou my friend. Yes, I realised later that it could have been a little sharper in some areas. Oh well, it was more for fun than anything.

I like the composition and her expression.. the light is also nice.. its abit grey though.. no direct white parts! Would have been great with a better range of tones!! Keep on working =)

Cheers

I like a lot the lighting on her face, but I wish it was more sharp on her face, especially her eyes! But overall good portrait dear Judi and especially with only 2 candles!!!!!

Yes Larry, two candles only. No other light source whatsoever. ISO 64, Aperture F8, shutter speed 2 secs. Hope that helps.

excellent capture judi - the dark background and contrast really enhance the moodiness of the pic!

LOL Ozjan. This image was taken last night at the spur of the moment. The best kind. I am pleased you too agree about the BW toning. Much softer.

hmmm it looks as if I am not the only one who is testing his night shootings. that is a great portrait Judi. Your black & White version is more dramatic indeed. Cheers. :)

Yes, Judi - you are absolutely right - and I agree with you that your b/w version brings out the softness. Candlelight can produce some very atmospheric portraits.

Yes, that is good, althought it hardens the features of her face a little. She has strong facial features and while I will be uploading another image of her soon, this particular image I felt needed to be kept soft and feminine as much as I could. The colour you have chosen is excellent though. That would look good on another image. Hmmm...food for thought!!

Judi, how about this? (Still think you were right, though - b/w is best...).

Ferdinand, she is a determined woman with a kind heart. I have attached the coloured version for you, keep in mind it was by candlelight.

Look at the eyes and the mouth - I would say this is a determined woman. Excellent photo, also! I love the light running along the top of the arm and the right side of the face. I would love to see the colour version also - but expect it works best in b/w.
