About The effect the yellow lights had on the rocks in front of Le Captaine Restaurant. Looks like hell! Had to use a wider aperture than normal to shorten exposure thus lessening noise.

Yes Cheryl, the 18-70 is the 'kit' lens that comes with the camera unless you buy the body by itself.

Thanks again.

Looks like a shot out of a Sci-Fi movie. You are quite good at this. I notice that you use the 18-70 lens a lot, is that the one that is with the camera when you bought it? I am amazed at the quality of your shots - all of them are great (regardless of distance - the Swiss Castle for example...). Amazing work.

Congrats on front page with this incredible shot. The colours and shapes just fabulous. I wondered if it might have even more impact if some of black at the top and bottom were cropped

Great shot heath. eerie.

Have you seen the cover to pearl jam's riot act album? here it is. this image reminds me a lot of that. it symbolises the destruction of the world due to humans and the man who destroys the world (i think PJ were hinting at george bush) sitting on his broken throne. Thats what i think anyway.

Well this picture reminds me a lot of that. So i see it as the world after we humans have destroyed it.

I would sell my soul for that picture without the black bars on the top and bottom.

There's a great pic in between those bars. I can smell the sulfur vapors bubbling up...

Imageopolis Featured Photo Critique Hey gidday Heath, nice to hear from you!
Stunning gallery mate and genuinely useful "abouts", like it.
This is going to be a nice place to come to once in a while ( not the hell, though one has to admire the crispness of the lighting conditiuons there by the looks. Notice you're resisting the urge to cook this into something else with photoshop like adding red.

You seem to have a bit of a fan base going there, If the light source had of been green, you could have been mistaken for being in Middle Earth, looking for Gollum!

I like the yellow and brown colors so much, good lighting and shadows too. One thing is that the image needed some cropping from the bottom....good work Heath, regards.

I actually removed a lot of red and yellow from the original because the WB was on shade (warm).

I try to upload as close to how shot in all my pictures, but it did look nice with a red cast.

very eery. Nicely seen. Have you played with the colour in PS to see what it would look like with a red cast instead? that might be interesting.
