That would've been my guess if I'd been forced to it. The F-1's had a longer profile than the J-2's. Never learned why. Probably to do with the different propellants. Neat machines, wish they were still being made and used.

Some information on exactly what we are looking at would be helpful, although the unknown aspect might generate some great entries for the humor category. My best guess would be exhaust outlets on a space craft from the late 1960's or early 1970's. Just a guess... How about "Intergalactic Tailpipes"
