About Some say love, it is a river
that drowns the tender reed.
Some say love, it is a razor
that leaves your soul to bleed.
Some say love, it is a hunger,
an endless aching need.
I say love, it is a flower,
and you its only seed.

It's the heart afraid of breaking
that never learns to dance.
It's the dream afraid of waking
that never takes the chance.
It's the one who won't be taken,
who cannot seem to give,
and the soul afraid of dyin'
that never learns to live.

When the night has been too lonely
and the road has been to long,
and you think that love is only
for the lucky and the strong,
just remember in the winter
far beneath the bitter snows
lies the seed that with the sun's love
in the spring becomes the rose.

Lyrics to The Rose by Bette Midler.
Original in Color. Converted to BW and played with in PS. I have no life and too much time, I'm thinking.

Sometimes I think converting beautiful colors to B & W detracts from the beauty, but in this case it creates an excellent mood. Well done. Del.

Wonderful. Love the tones and the vignetting. It has an old photo feel to it. Perfect for "The Rose". I love that song. Maybe boredom was the "seed" for this, but look at what blossomed!

Beautifully emotive Rebecca. The center lighting, vignetting and tones are delicate and tender, the dew like teardrops.

Great shot, Rebecca. I love the quality of the colour, tones & contrast you've used. Wonderfully bold & dynamic cropping. Lovely detail. And i love the vignetting you've created - makes for a great border & holds all the strength of that lovely bloom in where our eye can really hold it. I find the highlight areas just a little too contrasty - i'd be interested in seeing just that area toned down a tiny bit - but it's a small detail/critique & certain doesn't keep me from enjoying this beautiful piece. Really well done!
