haha - it just goes to show how easily an image can be misinterpreted. - Or maybe I just look into it all too much.

Hi Justin,

Thansk for your comments - there was a lot less to this shot than meets the eye. This guy was in fact stubbing out a cigarette with his foot, thats why he was looking down. I spent 2 weeks with various binmen teams in Waterford City. We would cover certain areas of the city and when the truck was full we would go to a landfill site and empty it. This is where this shot was taken. The project itself was quite humourous, I really enjoyed shooting it. Keep an eye on my Usefilm as I will be uploading more shots over the next few days.

Thanks for your interest.

Rgds,
Shane

I like this, but I can't put my finger on exactly why I do. I like the apparant distortion - though on a closer look this is not what draws me to this shot. I thing what i like most is the truck. The mismatched wheels and dis-proportionate appearance of the vehicle makes it look almost like a leggo creation by a young child - rather than a huge, piece of machienery.

The other thing I like is that the man gives off the feeling of absolute lonliness in his dark clothes and downward gaze. Who was it, and why at a garbage tip? Do you know? What adds to this is the overhanging rear of the truck which belittles him and almost says he has no chance - with a bleak sky in the background. superb.

Suddenly a photo of a simple old truck becomes a much more powerful image - such is the are of photography.

Very nice!
