About While out trying out my 18-70 lens today, I had the 10 to 2 time frame to try and get some images that weren't in direct sunlight. Moving back into the woods and shade, this leaf caught my eye.

Don
thanks for the comments, yes so far I really like the lens. most of all the wide end, although this shot was taken at 80MM which is , I guess your "macro". Its the First Silent Motor lens i have owned and its really a fast focusing unit !

Beautiful deep fall colors. The leaf is well isolated from the background. I was looking at the leaf horizontal in the composition and then noticed the branch coming in from the right at a diagonal the really helps the composition. Nice work. That is a very nice lens.Don.

Here is the deal. The Jury is still out on it. it has the ability turn out some really cool stuff, then the next shot ?? I wonder about. I guess that the thing to do is realize if I can get one really sharp good shot, then the not so good ones must be operator error ?

I love the wide end. !
the leaf was shot at 80 mm at about half a meter.
handheld.

Beautiful colour Jim. I like the composition and the blemish is not out of place. What's tour rating of the lens?

Lovely Autumn colours Chris! To be frank i'd agree with Dave on this - i think somethimes the imperfections actually enhance the subject though you shouldn't overdo it either i suppose - a hole-riddled leaf would definately not be as attractive as yours!

Beautiful colour here, Jim! Nice composition and DOF. Interesting debate about cloning out imperfections! While I usually look for a "good" leaf, I like a natural look, and accept the imperfections as a fact of a leaf's life.
Dave.

Interesting observation I cloned a bunch of stuff off of the leaf, I left the one blemish you spotted so it wouldn't look staged ;-)
pretty good otherwise though !!
Thanks for the comments
ave a great Sunday yourself

There's no doubting the beautiful autumn colours, Jim!
Clearly it was a difficult choice between having the branch on a diagonal, or the leaf. I think either would have worked, but the one you chose is marginally better.
Best regards, Chris
P.S. I think I'd have been tempted to clone out the one noticeable imperfection in the leaf.
