City - Puerto del carmen State - LANZOROTE Country - Spain
About
Just returned from my diving holidays. Lanzarote is a tiny little island off the west coast of Africa just besides Morraco. Very popular holiday destination among western europeans.
Its an amazing island for its volcanic landscape. The hole island is black from the past multiple erruptions from 3 major volcanoes. No greens what so ever except palm trees and cactus even though its not a desert.
It belongs to Spain from its colonial past. Lanzarote is one of the 5 small islands of Canary islands.
Cactus and palms are the commen trees and shrubs.
What you see here is a wineyard. What is surprissing is - the greapes are never watered as there is no water avialbe any where arround due to volcanic rocks. The grapes grow using the local moisture of the soil - what ever avilable that is !
Tasted the wines from this yard. Not bad at all for a water starved wine !!!
