You know, I'm definitely an amateur and I'm still trying to figure out settings and apertures etc. I never thought of using the macro mode.I've been experimenting in my Manuel mode with different shutterspeeds and aperatures. My Canon 10D has alot of features and I'm still learning! Shooting birds is a very good way to practice.

Hi Angela, Thanks for the comments! I was about 20 ft. from the feeder, with the 1.7 teleconverter, and the camera in macro mode. Dave.

Great photo Dave, I just love the bluejays! I've only just put out my feeders so I haven't seen too many yet. I did see a cardinal, but of course didn't have my camera ready! How close were you to the feeder?

Dave: Our Steller Jays are very active now but are far too wary to catch this close. Maybe someday. This is a wonderful catch.

Excellen shot, your "Hungry jay", Dave. We have them here too and I posted one about half a year ago. Someone who is familiar with Jays told me that in captivity they can imitate the human voice like parrots. Thank you for your comprehensive comment on my "Getting wet". Best regards, Rafi

Great details and colors! I love blue jays. They're so animated and vicious at times! I've watched many chase sqirrels and cats and dogs. They're not afraid of anything lol
