Yes Den the Mossie fuselage was made using spruce and balsa for the fuselage and outer wings etc, of course there was heaps of metal also used, the Vampire and Hornet also used the same construction method.

Correct me if I'm wrong John, I believe the mossies were built using plywood for the fuselage to keep weight down. That's perhaps why they're like hen's teeth nowadays.
Re Stephens comment. I remember seeing a Vulcan flying low and banking near Stevenage UK in the last few weeks of their operational flying. Apparently at least one was in the air at all times.

It was a fantastic plane the Mosquito John. This is a great old capture !!
Never seem to see them at any of the airshows these days - a bit of a shame really - how about with you ?
We just heard some good news at the last show, they have permission to fly the Avro Vulcan once again - perhaps my favourite jet of all time !!
