a response to zachry's comment. The space at the top of the photograph is necessary for the bird to look into. It's like leading a shot with a rifle or a camera. If there is no where for the subject to move into the shot becomes static and dies. The most common problem with the perception of composition is that has to be centered and perfect.

Steve you make it so hard to leave a comment, since the images are so beautiful. The bird is just magnificient and is acting like he/she know's it. Simply spectacular.
