Jenny,

Thanks for the tips. I like this. Both shots look great...

Good photo Shahriar, seeing that you took this from a moving car it came out very well indeed.

I would consider cropping it more, losing the unfocussed part on the left and capturing the whole bridge together with the reflection.

I might also consider turning it all to B&W. It will probably stand out a lot more this way :-)

Or, we can do a curves adjustment to retain better highlight detail, and then also crop to eliminate the blurry pole in the foreground.

Here's a version with contrast enhanced and cropped as a panoramic to improve the composition... see what you think...

Hi Jon,

Thanks for your thoughtful feedback, much appreciated from an amateur! This was actually shot from the express train between New York and Boston. Not ideal for getting the right shot. No tampering with size though, however I did convert to JPEG in order to reduce the size. Keep the feedback coming! Thx.

Shooting out of a car is a pain in the butt, but can sometimes yield shocking results. I like this image, but it needs a bit more contrast.

Hi Shahriar

Pictures made out of the car are often not the best solution.
Its to fast for a real composition
You will have more fun standing in front of an object for half an hour, to walk slowly around and look for a nice angle of view.
To wait for a different light etc.
So you will find a nice foreground, mddle and b/g.
This picture is a very good idea, and the place interesting

Hope to see you soon
Khodahfez, salam berisoon

Imageopolis Featured Photo Critique Hello - I found this to be sort of an interesting shot (taken from the window of a moving vehicle?) I don't think it is one of your best. The tones are muddy and the overall image is lacking in sharpness and interest. I tried playing with it in PSP and wasn't really satisfied with my results although I think it did benefit from from some manipulation of brightness and contrast.

I find, too, that while my attention is drawn to the bits of red and blue against the bridge, they are too small and indistinct to say what is going on, so that rather than being an interesting element they become more of a distraction.

Finally - the areas of fine detail appear to contain some jpeg artifacts, suggesting to me that you have perhaps reduced the file size too much when saving it.

Cheers,

Jon
