Wow, a giant shelfcloud i believe ..
Recently in july, we had a thing like this forming over Belgium, and moving northwards, it developped into a real shelfcloud, saw pictures of that phenomenon, really awesome and scary ..

Hi Mark, Superb shot of that phenomenon! I know Riny posted another version, but it's only the second time I've seen this on UF. Very impressive, and a massive power. Excellent capture. The motion blur in the foreground creates a wind swept effect on the field, which only adds to the power of this shot. Excellent job!

Cheers,

Hugo

Well, we don't have these kind of storms very often (moderate climate and all that). It did follow us at a very high speed.
When we stopped on the German border it overtook us, it had lost its sting, but still looked like this:

mark, very, very cool! good job snapping this from the car. level horizon and everything. i dig the blur on the grass. makes me feel like i'm trying to escape this insane looking cloud. what kind of storm did this one spawn? never seen one quite like it before.

take care,
tom

Amazing clouds and great title, this is defenitly a very menacing atmosphere. I love how you caught the two cloud formations split by a small gleam of hopeful light. Alison
