Fantastic mood lighting in this photo. The backlit seagull makes this a particularly strong image for me.

I took this shot before I moved the 4 gig to the d70. To tell the truth, when I go out west I will probably shoot 512 and 256 cards I have. the 4 gig might just go into the Canon for the trips duration. I don't want to get some really good shot and then have the old arthritic (sp) thumbs give out and drop it on the floor. So you got a van also, coolest thing for travel. I love mine and would not be without one.

Wow excellent shot Jim. great bluish tinting, love the feeling of the whole image. Are you shooting raw? I just started to shoot raw images but find that the color ends up being more dull once it is submitted to this site. I'm using Photoshop CS when that happens as it is the only PS that will read Nikon Raw images... It is kind of a pain to tell you the truth. It just eats up HD space so fast too. hey what happened to the 4gig mini drive?

Chris
it was the detail in the mid background that I was after. I need to get on Manual mode more often, thats were the creativity switch on the D70 ia activated ;-)
thanks for the comment

I really like this one, Jim.
The dark tones really add to the atmosphere and the gull in the foreground is in just the right spot.
Underexposing a little probably helped you get a sharper shot of the bird as well as preserving detail in the sky.
Good work.
Best regards, Chris

Hey Jim,
Love your recent church shot, but think this is one of your best recent images. WOW you do nature well! How long did you wait for Jonathan Living Seagull to make his appearance? Really spectacular stuff in your portfolio.

WOW...YES, very Magic Light. This is really wonderful. Turned out truly beautiful. I love the sparkles on the water and the highlights on the birds. I find it so much fun to experiment with different exposures.

Good luck with the 'Magic Light' category!!! This might be the ONE!
Well done Jim,

Lori :)
