About "Fishing" as hobby always makes me wonder - What on earth can make someone to go stand in one place, so patiently like a crane standing on one leg, to hook a small hapless fish through its mouth and then pull the hook off mercilessly and throw it back in to the water again !. The crane stands patiently for its food. What is this human doing there - for 'fun' they say. I am not sure that qualifies as fun in my dictionery. But then this is world where still Bull fighting is goin one else where with impunity. Comparing to that barbarity what is fishing. Just a minor act of cruelty. Perhaps.

What ever my feelings are about 'fishing' - that doesn't matter here. But fishing people always provide great scene for photos. In the time they spend fruitlessly waiting - I as a photographer, harming no one in my hobby, "CATCH" them time and time again. I wonder how they feel about being "CAUGHT" !!!!.

Excellent photo Ken, sometimes fishing is just a social event. I know a lot of people who do not catch anything and do not care ... they just have their drinks in a net in the cool water and just escape for the peace and quiet. Some do not even use a bait but play at it :-)

Like this composition...the fishermen provide a lot of relativity to the scale of the mountain @ the backdrop. Nice work and i guess there is enough said about the frame ;)...ireland is surely very picturesque

Nice shot, showing the expanse of the landscape, and the scale of the fishermen! Personally, I don't mind the frame!

Hi Geoge,

How yu doing?

Thank you for the candid expression of opinion. I was just fooling arround and ened up with this frame.

I agree with your views. Frames should be non intrusive and subtle standing in the background and enhancing the image rather than competing with it.

Regards my friend,
ken.

Antonio,

Thank you for your comment. I have to agree with your observation. Sometimes I just get carried away with PS work and framing.

Its always good to have UF friends like you on whom I can rely upon to correct my wayward ways.

Regards,
ken.

Very bold composition, Ken. The huge expanse of the mountainsaide is humbling to the fishermen--no matter how you feel about their pastime.

(Between you and me, like Antonio, I also find the frame to be a bit much. I think I overuse frames often, because I'm still grappling with when and what kind to use. For some shots, they are a definite enhancement; for others, they are a distraction. But when and where? It's a judgment, I suppose. . . . And that's my cop-out for today.)

After all is said and done, I do admire the picture and your very humane comments on this one . . .

to be honest I found your frame almost useless for this pretty photo with a very good composition giving the quiet mood of the entire scene (quiet for the fisherman, photographer and observers; obviously not for the fish)
