About Stacked webcam image of the prominent crater, Plato. The slump block on the rim of the crater (at about 8:30) is about the size of Manhattan.

Thanks Stephen. I hear ya... The wife would probably prefer me to take up something cheaper... like drinking... ;-)

Anyhow, with current imaging protocols, amateurs like me are capable of shooting at better than .5 arcseconds/pixel which for the moon, works out to approximately .5 km.

Great capture Bob - there is some serious magnification here ;-)
I used to own a 10" reflector but had to part with it to fund the photography ... vicious circle lol

Thank you Tony. I place a slightly modified webcam where I'd normally place a visual eyepiece or SLR. The webcam then generates a sequence of similar images which are then processed to reduce the noise. This is pretty much the standard method of doing high resolution lunar and planet images these days.

Yes, this is the lunar surface. The large crater at center right is Plato (approx 60 miles in diameter). The FOV is approx 250 miles across. A slump block is that large portion of the crater wall that has broken away from the rim and is partially collapsed into the crater. There's tons of online information on Plato which goes into much greater depth than I'm capable of relating. If you want, I can generate an overlayed image and send it to you.

I didn't quite understand the translation, but I know enough to say thank you, Tony.

Is this an image of the Moon's surface?

And what is a slump block? I can't seem to get any perspective on the size of this at all......

may be you could add some arrows, and perhaps even overlay/superimpose what you say - in a second image?

I love this kind of stuff, but it's so hard to get a handle on it......

Cheers
