Ahaaah you use the PMK! Yes I know it but I have not used it before. Upon your recommendation, I must try! The 4x5" sheet film development is very easy. I use 6"x5" plastic trays in the dark (cost 1 Euro each). One each for - developer, stop bath and fixer and washer. Chemicals the same as 35m or med format. Easy!! :-)))
BTW have I told you about the website www.apug.org? May be interesting for you G. It would be nice to see you there!

Ciao Giuliao, yes - LF is quite different. Some good info about lenses ...http://www.largeformatphotography.info/lenses-general.html . There are many good second hand lenses. Film holder, lupe, etc are cheap! For me the 35mm is on the shelf with dust and LF is my fun. Today is becomming yesterday, and tomorrow is today ;-).

Estupenda

John, BTW, the glowing effect is due also to the wonderful effect of PMK formulae. Have you never tried it? It's a develop made by Pyro (Pyrogallic acid,... very dangerous!), Metol and Kodalc (metaborated sodium). It's made in two solutions that have to be mixed only before the developing, usually in 1:2:100 parts (100 is the water). Waste after use. The two solutions have a very long life (probably when I'll decide to buy a LF camera my solutions will be still ok ;-) ) It's not very energic so you have to expose always a little bit less than the nominal ASA. There's a book that explain very well this PMK formulae and how to work with it. "The book of Pyro" (not an original name! ;-) ) of Gordon Huntching.
Edward Weston was a "Pyro lover" too (but with a modified formulae) :-))
How do you develop your 4x5 films? I've never develop them before, do I need a special tank?
Bye

Hi John, I'm looking for the LF camera yet. It's only a question of probability (...the probability to win a prize at the lottery!) I'm looking for a Shen Hao or Tachihara. I've found some good Linhof fully accessoried but they are 6x9 and not 4"x5". LF is LF, no compromizes!!
With 300-400 Euro I should be able to find the camera but the APO Sironar you suggested me is the roll royce of the lens! First off all is not easy to be found in the second hand markets and to buy it new is really reeeeealy and reeeeeeeeeally expensive :-(
Than you have to buy the film holder, lupe, etc. etc.etc.
BTW I've a direct link with Ebay to monitor the LF camera to sell :-)
See you soon with your new fine art pictures.
Bye

Parti o no?

This shot is very well done! Exposure and composition are pretty much perfect, and you've managed the lighting like an expert. You should be very proud of this result. Congratulations!-James
