About The only trouble with preparing a sermon in the garden is that there's so much going on ~ and so much to take pictures of!!

This morning I had displays from hover flys and crickets, peacocks and painted ladies ~ the butterfly variety I hasten to add!! ~ as well some spry sparrows and bathing blackbirds!! It was awesome!!

The cabbage white rarely has its picture taken as it's a comparatively dull old thing, but just look at that tongue!! Now, if women had a tongue like THAT!! (No, we won't go there!! Could get a few surges through my internet cable!! It's easy to be brave at a distance of 6,000 miles, eh, Lin?!))

Hope you like the pic!! Thanks for all your wonderful images and comments!!

Best regards, Chris

Excellent photo Chris, so that is where all the butterflies have gone this season - there is me busy growing my buddlea's and all I get are hover flies. You must feed your plants on sweeter food down there ;-)

You are too funny Mr S! I now picture this mature little boy perched on top of a high office chair, hands barely reaching the keyboard!

Send the transcript ... you know where to find me :-)

As usual very well done. The dialog that we get is more than worth the time of viewing your great work. Excellent as always. Don.

My dear Mrs. C.,
Your recent comments have nearly made me fall off my office chair with laughter ~ and that's quite a height to fall from for a little guy like me!!!
But that, to me, is partly what UF is about. Okay, it's great to get serious feedback on our pic's ~ in depth critiques of composition, d.o.f., and all that jazz, of course it is!! ~ but I'm so glad that so many of my UF friends have a great sense of humour and help lighten my days with their fun comments and witty retorts!!
Thanks for the smile, Linn!
I'll be looking out for that perfect pink flower!!
Best regards, Chris
P.S. You wouldn't want to know what my sermon is about!! I'll send you the transcript if you're interested!!! ;-)

Pastor Spracklen - what is Sunday's sermon about? The birds and the bees? I am assuming that you stuck to a working schedule and did not go off chasing flutterby's with your D70? or did you feel like Adam with the apple's temptation? :-)

As for me sitting 6000 miles away - it's only a hop, skip and a jump into your country. Carefull ... :-))

About your image (we have to make this a valid looooong comment, right? ) ... great capture of a very beautiful butterfly. I say great with respect, because I have found purple flowers and of course white, very difficult to capture in bright daylight - and always ended up with some hot spots ... yet you have done it perfectly. Fabulous DOF - but you know that :-)

As for the frame ... I was first going to complain (the tongue thing, I guess? ) but the longer I looked at it, the more I can see that it's simplicity leaves all the glory to the image.

Well done Chris ... now where is my pink image????!!! :-))

Chris
This is an amazing nature shot. Getting the the tongue as you did is marvelous. the colors of the insect are complemented by the flower it sits on. And again your presentation is outstanding.
