congratulations, John. Your work continues to amaze & inspire me. I love that you keep trying new things - new ways of looking at the world through the lens of a camera & new ways of printing that vision. The world around you is so far from the one i am living in, & yet you bring it to life for me & i feel a part of it somehow, not so separated or different. I suppose that is because you have this wonderfully unique way of capturing the humanity of your subjects, who do exist within their environment & are therefore informed by it, but who are also more than just that. You capture for us that which we all share - our stuggles, fears, loves, devotions - no matter where we find ourselves in this big world. I love that you make the world seem smaller to me, more intimate, more a part of who i am. Thank you!

your vintage series is great, john, excellent feeling for the grain, composition and light, all of that balanced very well, and this is what creates the unusual atmosphere about the photos in your portfolio

How can those feelings come out from such an image? You take us somewhere else, we fly into a dream , into our subconcious.

Aurore, in the case of the paired images i agree with you - i did nat have complete unilty as i like - i have other paired images that (for me ) work so much better - but still i i liked the almost movie frame look so i went with it ... in the case of this image - thank you so much for your comments - for me it's one that has great meaning .. much care .. js

I like this one much better by itself. I think it stands well on it's own and I'm not sure the photo you later paired it with has much to offer. Not that you couldn't do something great with it... but pairing it with this great photo only detracts, imho. I just love the way he's stepping into the frame. Nice timing.

Quite distilled and beautiful, I think -- and looking at it my immediate response is that now I understand a bit more about perception. Perhaps it is the heavy borders, an eye just starting to blink.
