yes can see the advantages of taking out the man on the right and object on the left. No doubt, it makes a different overall composition. But I do like the little bit the man on the right adds. He is leaving and the main man is only just arriving. The man and the object on the left also keep you looking at the middle man, it keeps the eye in the frame, rather than just having a black abyss. Just an alternative view.
cheers,
nicole

Hi, I don't think the guy on the right damage the picture. For me he even helps. But the edition u did in the second version is quite good also. U have a lot of this 'frames', very good.

I'm not sure why, but I think I like this one better than your revision. Perhaps the man added something...balance?

The contrast between the dense blacks and the airy structure in the background is pronounced. The people add much to the scene.

Thanks Paul, for your comment. For a moment, I thought you'd somehow uploaded my photo here... I've got one very similar. Will upload it sometime (it's a print photo). Though, I quite like yours! More people. Perhaps to crop off the lighter panel on the left would help. I do agree with your philosophy to mainly take photos and not tamper with them - 'tis the best way to learn! Cheers, Alice.

Hi Paul, Great see trhough view, and the contrast is excellent. A pitty that the man on the right popped into the composition. Without him, the shot would've been incredibly strong. Still, its only a minor detail. Good job!

Cheers,

Hugo

Great shot. What contrast, both in the picture and the old arches looking to the modern glass structure. Great composition

Great framing!

Did you take the long hike up to the cliff to get a shot of the town? Man was I tired after that. :)

I agree with the others - wonderful shapes and lines. I like the presence of the people - somehow it's not as static.

Es una muy buena fotografia el encuadre respecto al arco me gusta mucho asi como la iluminacion no parece una fotografia digital.
Respecto al comentario sobre mi fotografia si que use un tripode para efectuar la toma peus la iluminacion era muy escasa .
Saludos Ferran

Hi Paul...I like this capture a lot it is full of contrast of light, textures and shapes. The dark solid interiour of the arch to the light intricate lines found on the pyramid. From the dappled stone walk to the upright shape of the people. Through the help of another usefilmer..I was given some insight on how to recognize texture and shape without the use of color..he told me to have fun seeing the world in B&W, which is something you have shown with this photo...Gloria

Excellent composition! I like the hard contrasts, the silhouettes and the lightness of the structure in the background, enhanced by the wide dark area that naturally frames it. Very eye catching, congrats!

thanks Thilo, I thought about cropping, but decided against it.. did not crop at all. I decided against giving the people to much of the focus.. sort of let the viewers pick what they want to see... but your idea would have been good also, just a different approach..

thanks again

Aaah, le Louvre ;-)

Very interesting project, Paul. I like the different levels of depth here and the blur. great framing by the arches. just think about different cropping here. I like the difference between the person on the right and the man who is walking in direction of the pyramid... you may crop a tad on the left and the ceiling to get the persons more centered. just an idea though. good job anyway.

Thilo

I really like the light and dark contrast and the detailing of the lines in the tri-dome. It reminds me of the saying "the light at the end of the tunnel".

Very good framing with the arches, and use of side apperture and slow shutter to blur foreground. The eyes are easily led past the man and towards the tip of the Louvre pyramid.
