About
Last October, when I was working in Towson, I had been looking out of the 5th floor lunchroom at the courthouse building across the street. At about 2:30pm on sunny days, I saw these strange-looking reflections on the side of the courthouse.
The really wierd thing is that while the part of our building facing the courthouse is flat, the glass reflections have this curious wavy pattern. I guess the windows aren't flat and straight as they look from ground level.
I have a "virtual friend" in California, Matt Denton, who is a great photographer, and this photo reminded me of the intriguing light-shape-shadow photos he often takes. So I named the wave pattern after him :-) Check out Matt's photos and his great classic camera collection at
As to the slanting surfaces - I did this on purpose. The sidewalk (grating in foreground) slopes downhill, while the walkway, part of the building, slopes uphill. I rather liked the converging-diverging effect of their lines.
