About I took this when the train I was travelling on came alongside another train going the opposite way. They pass at a station where the single track opens into a double line.

I've called it 'chocolate and cream' because that's what they call these old 'Great Western Railway' coaches, owing to their distinctive dark brown and cream coloured paintwork. I've tried to emphasize this by going for a sepia toned finish.

Hope it appeals!

Thanks for stopping at my station,

Chris.

P.S. 'Chocolate and cream' is always a winning combination in my book ~ and the darker the chocolate, and thicker the cream, the better!!

P.P.S. Actual shutter speed: 1/350th. Aperture: 6.7!!

The only trains that are not female are mail trains. [GDR] The old GWR colours are those of my youth. I like the metallic textures and the sheen of the surfaces QUITE as much as the chocolate and cream colours.

So original and beautiful! The sepia, the composition, the reflections... all melting/suiting so well with eachother! Very tasteful, great and interesting work!

Hi Chris
Being a railway buff (but not an anorak) your recent series of railway pics strike right at my heart, especially this one. I always seem to remember things in monochrome so maybe that is why. Having spent my youth in ex LMS territory (BR days) my coach livery preference is Blood & Custard as depicted in my Getting Right of Way shot, but in B/W there is very little difference.I wonder if your Father ever treated you to a fried breakfast cooked on the shovel through the firehole door - it's fantastic!!!
Great series, great shots. All very evocative.
Many thanks for sharing.

This image brings back some distant memories from chilhood Chris. Mostly of looking out of the carriage window on the way from Romford to Southend on a steam train... and getting a hot cinder right between the eyes. Never did look out of the window on a steamer again. Thanks for the memory. Regards John

Melted chocolate - look at the wonderful reflection!

Love this Chris - you surprised me though - I am so used to seeing your colourful images! Had to blink twice when I saw your name under the thumbprint :-))

I said it before ... but I LOVE LOVE LOVE your new frames! Watch out - soon everybody will be copying you, me included :-))

Hi Chris, Excellent Choo Choo shot again. I like the perspective, and the toning adds a nice timelessness to this shot. Very well captured. A classic composition and photo.

Cheers,

Hugo

Hey, thanks Lori ~ for being the first person, other than me, to comment on this fine photograph!! :>))

Actually the reflection is from the train I was riding on, which was going the other way. (c.f. the 'about' section!!)

Yep, I'm feelin' a bit hyper this evening. I just got home from a 4 hour leadership meeting at my church. It was great, but I just feel like unwindin' a bit ~ and this is what happens!!

Have a great trip!

Chris

Chris, I LOVE this!! And I just read your comments below...LOL...think someone put something in your coffee last night! LOL

This one is very 'artsy'...(you should sign it!) LOL...

Love the toning on this, am curious, I must have missed someething, but how did the reflection get there? I'm tring to figure this out, or is it done by the artist? Whatever it is, it's GREAT.

Actually, this makes a good abstract photograph.
VERY GOOD WORK,
Lori :)

So if the train is a female does that mean the coach is a male?

If so, does the coach train the engine, or is that taking the third law of aerodynamics a little too far?!

And if the coach trains the engine, does the engine coach the carriage?

And you thought I was just some dumb pastor who only knew about thinsg like infralapsarianism!

Goodnight ~ I need my bed!
