Mark, thanks so much for your comment and recommendation on the bigger card. It is on my wish list! Right now to shoot in the finest mode I would only get about 7 images, as oppossed to getting 75. Since it's my biggest card, I do the best with what I have! I do plan upgrading though, and I really appreciate your recommendation and comments on my work! I always love hearing ways to improve!

Hi there Dale Ann, I think this is the first time I've had a chance to see your work. You have many great images in your portfolio. I really like some of the window light images. I read in a comment on one of the other images that you don't shoot at the highest resolution for your camera. Are you selling them prints from these? If so, you owe it to them to buy big enough cards to hold the images so you can deliver the highest quality you are capable of delivering. A 512mb card on your camera would hold maybe around 200 or more images. You have a great eye for shooting kids so why not show your work as best you can!

A great shot. Maybe a shallow DoF as the background (hot spots) draw you away from the model. The tree is just a little to close to her head, possibly a slightly different angle. Very well done though.

Great classic pose. Nice tight crop. leaves just enough background to compliment the photograph.

No further comments to add Dale Ann other than the fact the model appears very relaxed and natural before you. If you can achieve that and put the models at ease making them look natural the photography will follow. And already knowing the quality of photographs you take, it will follow for certain :-)

Thanks Eric! I appreciate your input. I hadn't noticed the garden line. I'll have to watch out for that next time! Thanks again!

Melissa, thanks for your comments. I may try to burn the hand a little and see if I can tone it down and make it not stand out so much. But you're right, we were trying to show the ring! Yes, the background does need more blurring! Thanks for your input! I really do appreciate it!

Thanks Bob, I will try the reflector idea. Hadn't thought of that, it was so bright out that day. But in the shade, that would have worked wonders!

Dale, Lovely soft face. I was thinking you should blur the background if possible and the garden line runs right across the subject and takes the eye off your main subject, Albeit briefly.
My camera wont let me choose DOF and no photoshop so Im limited with what I can do.

Well posed and nice expression. The lighting is perfect. The background could be a little more blurred maybe. Just my opinion. Also the back of her hand takes away from her face a little...but I think I see the point trying to show the class ring? Dale Ann overall this is VERY good and I am sure she is more than pleased with it! Good luck and good shooting.

In addition to Don's comments, you might consider an off-camera fill flash or a reflector below and left of the camera to bring out her features a bit better.

Thanks Rawabi, I hadn't noticed the hot spot on back. And I agree it's too blurry around nose. I am working on it and will repost tomorrow to see if I get it better.

Thank you Margaret. I think you're right, a little more blurring in bg would help.

nice shot Dale.. the lighting is great but her back is a bit overexposed.. a little too blurry around the nose and mouth.. but other than that great portrait :)

Nice portrait, like the pose and being outdoors, rather than just formal. I think, just because of the tree position, a slightly blurred background might enhance subject even more.

Don, thanks so much for your comments. I hadn't noticed the tree looking like it's growing out of her head. And yes, I had tried a new way of airbrushing blemishes, and looking at it now I see that it does look fake. Also, a little too much with the eyes. I will work on it and repost. Thank you again for your advice and comments.

It looks as though you did some photo manipulating around the eyes and or the nose. Also, the image would look better if you would use a shallower depth-of-field. Get the background blurred as much as possible to draw attention to the subject which is the girl. One more thing, the tree in the background is nearly "growing" out of her head. Hope these help you out!
