Susan:
Ah yes; stories, myths, and legends are all in this capture. Very nice work, and sorry I've overlooked your portfolio. You've good a nice one.
Like you, I'm always taken aback with these old structures.

Best regards
David

Susan --

This is one of my favorite subjects: old buildings that are falling down. You're right, there is so much life that could have happened in them, why were they abandoned, what happened to the people. It makes them so intriguing.

I can't think of anything to add to John's suggestions, except that I'd love to see the next version!

Thanks also for your comment on my Tiger in a Pot--she's really a funny cat, especially when she's trying to be serious.

Regards,
Anne

Yes I can just imagine the stories it could tell, your gallery is very interesting for having started in February this year. Great @progress in a short time - keep on going.

I love old houses and ruins too. Very interesting and mood places. And so, your photo is interesting too. But i think, when you make more detail photo of the house, it could be more fascinating. Look for a good point of view and make some detail photos and just upload they here. And i will come back... :-)

To my photo: When you are in leipzig at this time, i have taken the photo, i will meet hundreds of this people. :-)

ah, yes...those farm dogs can really get nasty...i live in north dakota right now and there are plenty of those little beasts running around in the country. kind of scary when they actually chase your car as you speed off in fear!

some regular black and white film suggestions:
kodak tri-x 400
ilford fp4+ 125
ilford delta 3200
ilford pan f+ 50

very good bw films.

John,
Thanks for the great suggestions. I forwarded this message to my "teacher" so we can incorporate them into our next outing. He will love the b&w idea; he's big on making me develop my own stuff. I can't get closer, but I can use a zoom. The house is in a field full of cows. Where there are cows, there are usually dogs and farmers who don't want you messing with their cows. I have a healthy fear of dogs. To get this shot, we had to stop in the road and be quick about it. It was just too beautiful to pass up.

this is where trespassing gets fun :). if i were you, i would find a way around the fence and take a closer photo. first thing i would do though, would be to change film. kodak 400...it's not good stuff. try fuji reala 100...that's good. or if you want even better, or something faster, try fuji nph 400 (rate it at 320 iso though). then go back to this location during sunset or twilight and take some more shots...may be even more impressive with black and white film (ilford makes a c41 process film called xp2...good stuff if you don't want to take regular black and white to a hand developer...xp2 is developed in the normal color process you find in so many labs). with b&w, a dark stormy sky, and maybe a red filter depending on the situation, you could shoot a really forboding scene. this place has so much potential...go take some more shots! :)
