Hey Rebecca! I didn't think I could pursue that but have started to see a lot of the range finders for sale... pity I don't have the a80 anymore! Oh what might have been! What thread did they have, do you know? I assume you've been here: http://www.photoethnography.com/ClassicCameras/index.html Heaps of stuff (you probably already know) on yashica rangefinders there. I've started a collection of m42 lensesan d plot to put them in front of the cheaper canon digital slr in a few months. I find that a REALLY amusing thought that those oldies will serve me well for that. Real pity about the 1:1.5 odd conversion ratio for those slrs at the moment though, isn't it? Kevin Collier was looking for something for his canon a while back but I don't see that he has. I think the canon extensions have a 55ml thread.

A classic representation of Tolkein's middle earth...it really transports you to another dimension...i wonder if the video lens adapter had anything to do with the reverse curve of the horizon...excellent composition, my compliments.

Magnificent shot! The mood is perfect. I wanted to tell you, I just discovered last week that many of the old tele wide adaptors for the old range fingers and such work on the digitals. I had a set of yashikor aux lenses that fit perfectly on my fuji and have excellent clarity! Not to mention, saved about a hundred dollars. :)

Dear Kristina, It was a beautiful midnight when I left and had about an hour of brilliant full moon before the vapour you see dimmed the light. So definitely no sun you may make out a green dot to the left. That's a clue, this is the entrance to our harbour and we are standing on a break water with and old dock looking towards the green and red beacons guiding the ships in. The man in Singapore who sold me the extension explained it was for video cameras. It's served me well as I bought it for my pentax to take through europe but it also fits onto my digital. Nice to hear from you. Thanks for your encouraging words.

AAAARGH! NO FAKE STARS HERE ROG. I was young! Can't you give a guy one lousy break? it was only four lousy stars I'm on my knees here Mr... Seriously though, I wonder would you believe they are real if it was at a higher i.s.o.? There was some controversy when these a80's came out thatb they were hyping up their i.so.s unneccesarily, i.e. when canon say 50 they mean 100 and 100= 200 etc. Does that make more sense? Thanks for your concern for my photography (and my soul). Cheers Roger.

Video lens adaptor... is that what makes it look like horizon is bow formed, and adds that dark on top sides? It looks very interesting and mystical! Also such fantastic scene and view! I don't know if that little red spot in distance is the sun, or perhaps just a lighthouse or something, but it's really incredible that it is so small and still adding so much extra! And the water, flowing like soft fluff among the rocks... mmmmm. Very beautiful, Ian!

Thanks Ian. I was pretty happy to be out there under that particular moon. It was the second night there, I was centering on the town ship on the coast further left but then saw the clouds. Interesting points you raise.

Some interesting work you're doing Ian, trying lot's of things to represent and present what you see and feel. That's hard to do through a photo without the added senses of feel, touch, taste, hear, etc. but such a photo, like this one, works when it manages to stir those other senses in the viewer. That pillow of cloud perfectly tops the blanket of misty water, dreamtime!
