City - Duisburg State - NORDRHEIN-WESTFALEN Country - Germany
About
Second shot from the 'Landschaftspark Nord', the area around a former blast furnace in Duisburg, Germany. These walls are used by mountaineers for practicing. (At this time, when evening fell, they were already gone.) By the way: I used PS to change the colour of the lady's coat from turquoise to red :)
Great shot Hermen. I like your toning and indeed, the red coat fits in just fine. I especially like the contradiction of straigt lines of concrete and the green of trees.
Hi Hugo, I do not know what the ditches were for, maybe I can investigate that further on a next visit. Its only one hour drive from my home, and there is so much to see... too much for one day. You mentioned that the tones are a bit bleach; on the slide they are even bleacher, I thought crancking up the saturation more than I did already would make it look unnatural. I also tried converting it to B&W, the drawback is that the woman stands out less well in that way.
Hi Hermen, Very good composition with te diagonal lines, and the low light creates an additional intersting element in the photo. I like the single person in this frame; it places the scene into perspective. It also tells me more about the previous one. What where these ditches used for? Storage of coal and iron ore?
Good PS job on the coat of the woman. I find the tone of the ditches and structures a tad bleak, though. Other than that, a fine and very intriguing shot.
