About This was taken on a February day, about mid-morning. This place is so majestic. I felt quite small standing on the dam when I took this.

Ted --

Thanks for your comments on this and the other images. My apologies for not replying sooner; I'm in the middle of a project with a rapidly approaching deadline so haven't had time to spare (although I'd much rather be thinking about photography than work!).

Regards,
Anne

This is one of the few places in California that I've never yet visited. You've captured the grandeur; that gut feeling you get when you step out of your car or walk out to the clearing and just get knocked out of your socks at what's in front of you. Truly an awe-inducing sight.

Thanks, Christine,

I know how small I felt when I was standing on the dam! I was back there yesterday and the conditions were completely different--there were thunderclouds overhead and the water was quite choppy--certainly not serene as on the day this photo was taken.

Regards,
Anne

Reminds me of the song by Leann Womack and the line 'I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean'. This truly is magnificent. Crystal blue placid waters, noble mountains, lovely reflections and a sky to match the water. A stunning capture.

Raul,

Thanks for your comment. No, I didn't use a polarizer filter on this, it was just a clear, beautiful winter day. I think I took this in either the late afternoon, but I don't recall (it was taken in 2002). I really like the reflections myself.

Warm regards,
Anne

Quiet and relaxed atmosphere. The clouds add to the image.

I'm wondering if you used a polarizer filter to capture the deep blue sky. The reflections on the water really improve this picture's quality.

Linn,

I'm honored to be one of your "friends" . . . I'll be adding you to my friends list as well. I love your sense of humor, and your work is truly lovely--your flowers, in particular, are amazing.

I've gone back and forth as well about the right side of this shot. It seems cut off in just the wrong spot, but if I remember correctly there's a building, a pumping station or something, just out of sight which is one reason it ends where it does. The other is that I wanted to be sure to keep the waterfall in the shot.

This was one of the first shots I took with this camera and I was still trying to figure out how it worked. I'm hoping to get back to this place in the near future, now that I actually know how to use the camera. lol

Anne, you have captured the cold steel of the mountains and water in an excellent manner. Reflections are beautiful, waterfall is great. I can feel the cold.

I've been wondering about cropping 1/2 inch off the right hand side of the image. But I am undedicided. Just when I think it should be done, I change my mind. Having the small part of the "shoreline" actually gives a good idea of how far the mountains were from where you were standing.

I am adding you to my friends list - I don't want to miss out on your landscapes :-)

Linn
