Thanks for your nice comments, and I really like your work as well, great stuff! I actually hadn't noticed the shadows on the leaf, so that's why it's so helpful to receive advice from others. I agree that the shadows, now that I've seem them, are slightly distracting. However, I am rather rigid with regard to preserving the raw nature of Polaroid 55 P/N, so even though I could correct it digitally, I'd rather not. For me, the quirks are important to the overall look.

A great image where all Professional Photographers might gather I would say ... AND ... 'If this was a Study ... you most certainly passed the exam!'
I'm not exactly sure of the shadow(s) on the bottom leaf, so what are your true feelings about this ONLY nit even though I enormously appreciate the exposure duration!?
In any case ... a most appreciative thanks for sharing and Best of Regards!
P.S. I am going to NOT rate this piece because it is in a 'League All It's Own' ... Okay?

Thanks for the info Andrew. Maybe we should try a small sheet of anti-Newton ring glass. I have the Epson 3200 scanner and while it does a great job, using the supplied insert to handle the 4x5 just loses some sharpness during the scan.
I've heard of people using a wet method on their scanner (like a drumscan gel) but I've not really researched it yet. I'll look around for some glass and try it myself. Thanks again!

Thanks so much for your generous comments. The polaroids were scanned using an Epson flatbed 2450. The negatives are placed on the glass, and I sandwich another piece of glass over the negative. This sometimes results in some newton lines, but it's trial and error. This procedre seems to be the only way I can retain the expressive border of polaroid 55, as the supplied carrier eliminates them. BTW - your compositions are quite beautiful as well!

I think I'm in love. A man who shoots large format and Polaroid 55? (Hopefully my husband will understand :)
But seriously, all three of these are gorgeous shots. The tonal range is superb, your compositions are simple and elegant (the way I like them), and most importantly, I think this little series of yours evokes an emotional response (at least it does with me). These are serene and elegant.
You'll have to tell me how you are getting the great scans of your 'roids or prints or however you are scanning. I'm always a bit disappointed with my 4x5 scans.
Breathtaking work, my compliments. Now I have to add you to my friends list to keep an eye on your work :)
