About This is my very first experiment on my newly bought Infrared filters. Taken using D100. Tripod is needed as speed is 1sec. More testing is needed... Need more advise. All comments/tips are appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Bart,

Yes, few places they don't allow any tripod.
I carried a small tripod inside my bag, which they did not check :>

Thanks for your comments... You have good photos in your portfolio.

Cheers ! Bobby

This may be the first and only IR image if the Taj I've seen. Most interesting. I like tha off-center angle as well. Thye let you take a tripod in? They wouldn't even let me carry my monpod with me. Regards

Excellent for the first infrared. 1 second exposure - nice, best I can get is 4 seconds at f4.0. If I shoot f2.8 then I'll get a one second exposure but the focus may be off if the object is too close. I would like to see this in B&W - this image will probably look great in B&W.

Sorry! I didn't see that you posted an image in my guestbook! I think I like this version better than the BW one. Technically it's as good as it can go, I think. Great image too. Good work!

Hello Bobby,
I can't send you email. Sorry
My filter is Hoya IR72
effect in RGB is similiar to:
http://www.pixelagogo.com/D100_IR/infrared_d100test.html
I have some minor problems with focusing since my lenses except my newest nikon 80-200 do not have infrared scale on focus indicator ring.
Few answers I found on:
http://www.pixelagogo.com/D100_IR/infrared_d100test.html

I is very difficult to find anything about channel shift - You can find excellent examples:

Which filters? I've learned D100 is not a perfect tool for IR photography. My own few attempts with hoya IR72 are rather disappointing. Have you seen intenet tutorials on D100&infrared? I have some links my email: biejat@mp.pl Regards

Thanks for your comments for my future improvement...

To share with you guys...I'm using Hoya R72 filter, shoot on my Nikon D100 camera (no infrared film is required). The picture (in red color) needs to be converted into B&W and make some contrast/sepia adjustment to create the "Punchy" effect. I've made a comparison between B&W and Sepia and think the Sepai give better result. I'm very new in taking infrared picture and need to explore further. Will try to take more and post onto my portfolio and need your comments too.

If you have any tips/suggestions or discussion, let us now and it will be appreciated.

Thanks, Bobby

sureal! very nice. beautiful shot from a different perspective. i really dig this and had been curious about shooting infrared. how did you go about it? besides the filter, did you have to set anything special on the D100?

take care,
tom

I think this photo is really great. THe contrast is really nice, and to me that is what makes IR so dramatic and eye-pleasing. (along with the absense of haziness) Good job. what filter(s) do you use?

Infrared and sepia tone work well, makes the white
mahal comes out. Great work Bobby.
