About was able to see my oldest son over the last weekend, we went to visit a museum, had a great time while there, noticed the wonderful avaiable lighting, and got this shot of my oldest son.

This is a beautiful portrait of your son. You have captured an incredible patrician, reflective expression. He looks like an extremely gentle soul. The B/W conveys these qualities quite well. Thank you for all your kind comments and taking the time to browse my portfolio. High compliments indeed from someone of your background.

this can't be your son! You're too young or he's too old..c'mon, this is a self-portrait, right? Seriously! You guys are dead ringers for each other! It's obvious that you love your son deeply which explains the serious devotion i perceive in the presentation of this portrait. i like it a lot--he almost looks like he could be in Mel Gibson's latest :)) Did you really feel it was necessary to soften the background as much as you did? i realize this is done in studios all the time and it gives a lush formal appearance to a portrait but i do so love a natural depth of field created in camera. And my last question, why do guys always get the great hair????? regards: kat~

Yes, very atmospheric portrait, the lighting and background suggest an almost "biblical" mood :)
