Excellent observation. Interesting scene and pleasure to learn that these "big birds" makes they home in your city. Recently, blue herons begin to build their new home in Stanley Park in Vancouver, BC. too! Regards, Rafal

Great capture! They're different colors; I wonder if one is female and one male. Or maybe one is younger? Wonderful scene! It looks like they're looking each other over! Carolyn

I like that these two birds are clearly 'observing' each other!! Love your photograph, it's delightful!
Nice work, Lori :)

Liked the shot because of the matched pair (male and female). The mood is very cold which relfects the time of year. They are so short in the frozen North. Check out some of mine from a warmer clime. Cheers!

Good shot, Annika, I like the framing with the snow and the reed. An excellent contrast in colours. Somehouw, I wish there was only one Heron in this shot, the right one breaks the composition a bit. Difficult choice, being able to be in a perfect position with perfect lighting with TWO subjects.... A luxurious problem....
Any way, with the right heron gone, I think the open atmosphere of the scene would come out better, and it would balance the composition.
Even with a redundant Heron, it is a very good shot, well done!
Cheers,
Hugo
