About The Bald Eagle in this shot does'nt have dirty feathers, but is at the age of around five years and will have the white haed and tail feathers next year. They namely don't get all white untill the age of six. He/she is landing on the beach of Kachemak Bay near Homer in Alaska. Shot taken on thursday afternoon the 4th of March 2004 around 6.00pm, just before sunset. Taken with Nikon 70-200mm VR lens. You can see that there is some movement in the tips of the wing and tail feathers. This is because I did (on purpose) use shutter speed of 1/320th of a second with aperture on 5.6

Hey Harry, I agree with Hugo's remark, it might've been a bit better by using panning, but this shot already is pretty amazing, and by far better then anything I'll ever shoot (with a camera that is)...

Oh so beautiful! I just love the timing here, it gave sch interesting and fantastic pose! It's like if the wings got formed to reach the ultimate composition! Also the body is so interesting... Those chubby fies... Looks in a way like a human, dressed up in Eagle costume!

Great sharpness and a very powerful shot. Obviously, technically perfect, and I do appreciate your elaborate comment, Harry. Amaising you'd had (and taken) the time to adjust your camera settings without missing this shot.... I only think, that the motion blur is so subtle, that the effect is lost in the atmosphere of the powerful bird and the impressive moment. I think that this effect could have worked very well in creating a dynamic image, with an even slower shutter, and a little "meetrekken". Easy enough to say, as I'm stand in awe looking at this shot....) My compliments!

Cheers,

Hugo

That's a focused look of determination on that bird. Did it get a good capture as well as you? The added information is much appreciated.......Randy
