Sandy, your treatment of this image is what changes it, yes changes, from an average but technically good street shot to something which contains messages for the viewer, and that seems to be your strength. You make this dilapidated building look truly glorious and proud in its ruin. It makes me want to try something similar so there's photographic inspiration there too. Cheers, Ian

Excellent! I love the subject, it's so old and interesting! Also the colour tones are beautiful, and so cool with the deep colour mixed with very light and pale background even desaturated. Very good, creative and great!

Nice desaturation around the border of this. Really brings out the image. What a grand old building!! It would have been interesting to see it in its heyday. Cheers!! :):):)

thanks everyone again..and mary! fitting..quite fitting. ps was used for contrast which bleached the already pale sky..i also desaturated the background. the building is pretty incredible in itself...many times people actually renovate these homes.. not sure about this one though..a tell tale sign are the boards...that usually mean someone has claimed it.
at one time you could get one of these for back taxes alone. a few hundred dollars...those times are gone.

Wow Sandy, a wonderfull shot (again!!) The old rotten house is very colourfull, and on the first look it looks happy and lightning. But when you take a closer look you see it is old an not so wonderfull at all. I only wonder about the sky, is it natural sooo white or did you use a little photoshop?? It comes out perfect, the white sky pushes the builing in the sight! Excellent! Greets, Lex..

Once you held your finger on the trigger Now the gun is pointing at your head Once you reigned supreme Over all that you could see Now you walk on the other side of the street
How the mighty fall I've seen it all before From the highest heights To the lowest of lows How the mighty fall
Once your words were the first and last on the subject Now they hang like a noose around your neck Once you held the light That could be seen from near and far Now you fall and stumble in the dark
How the mighty fall I've seen it all before From the highest heights To the lowest of lows How the mighty fall

Nice! The brown colour is a warm one and normaly warm colours goes to beautiful objects and nice! Here the contrast! Warm colour in a white place at the ruid object! That is art! I LOVE when the contrast is NOT only at the colours and tones but also at the subjects!

Ahhh the regretful sights of many cities... to think that no so long ago there were children running around... a mother waiting at the doorstep for her husband... flowers and more...
Very well documented!

thank you everyone... this image reminded me.. of a lot of things in history.
nothing is imortal. not even power in the end we are all the same. decay of flesh and material or of comradety(sp) loyalties, belief systems. everything is subject to change. everything.
and when the huddled masses feel they are not important. or that other things outshine them. they need to know this is not true.
we are all the same new to life...and then old

The hauted house! I like the atmosphere in this one, Sandy! The bright, saturated colours form a nice contrast with the actual subject.. The burned out fore and background works excellent. I also like the selective use of colour. Very well done, great shot and editing...:)

Sandy, this is really excellent! I love the way you desaturated the background and let the highlights surrounding the building completely blow out - it reinforces the bleakness of the shot. The building itself looks wonderfully ominous and imposing! Did you burn it in a little to get those deep, rich colors? Very, very cool!
