Hi Craig, Lovely scene. I think that a B&W or monochrome sunset can certainly be effective. The dark tones create a very intreguing mood, somewhat eerie, somewhat grim. Not sure if that's the mood you want to communicate with a sunset shot, though. The composition is very well balanced, but the horizon is slightly tilted....(Obviously, neither of these opinions is the issue, and I would've made the same comment if it were a colour photo) I think I miss the subtle red and blue tones of a coloured sunset. The colour adds a conforting and relaxing atmosphere. The B&W makes it more interesting, though.
