About This picture was taken in almost total darkness. I had been waiting for twenty minutes hoping to get a male ruby throated. This little lady was just fine.

Lori, I had actually cropped the photo down to exactly what you did, and liked it that way I must say. But I liked the light that reflected off the feeder. Thank you for your comments. p.s. I don't mind at all.

Hi Richard,

Patience pays off doesn't it? :) I was looking at this image and thinking that you could crop it into square or vertical and get rid of most of the red feeder! I think all that red takes away from the bird. As I was typing this, I decided to take the liberty and 'DO IT', I do hope you don't mind...(just my opinion)
Lori :)

Males have a beautiful ruby red throat(as the name would imply). Females look just like the photo. Thank you for your coments.

Aha! So humans get "red eye," and hummers get "green eye?" Nice photo, good show of patience! Interestingly, did your flash totally obscure the ruby neck feathers, or are the females bereft of colored feathers?
