Beautiful. Perfect. Thank you for this image. This embroidery style is from Hungary, Mezőkövesd. The styles name is matyó [matjo:] Each colour has it?s own meaning. The oldest works name is ?Ó-matyó?: ?old matjo? and use red-blue combination only. From the beginning (~1870) the black colour used for presenting Earth, yellow for Sun or the summer, blue is for sorrow, for death. After WWI came new colour into embroidery: green for mourning. The planner of the embroideries were/are the writing-women, they draw the pattern in advance. The most famous from them was Bori Kis Jankó (1876-1954). The biggest size of the works are arround 1 m2. Best regards, Jozsef

Hello again! :-)) Alex, I wanted to say in my last comment that it looks very hungarian, but I wasn't sure so I didn't write it. But now you left a comment to me saying that it IS! :-))
Also you wrote it's 100 years old and made by an old aunt! So that means you are a bit hungarian if we look back. Me too! :-)) My parents were actually born there, but moved to Sweden before I was born.
