Excellent work. You've been busy. I haven't been watching your work for a while now. You've been shooting some really great stuff.

Thanks for your comments on my work, James....You asked about my lighting....sometimes I use daylight from a dining room window and sometimes I use fluorescent shop lights....I just set the fluorescent lights on a table facing upwards....and then set a piece of glass on top of four soup cans that are on either side of the lights.....and then set my subject on top of the glass....sometimes I use a cloth over the glass to diffuse the light....hope this helps.

Great question, James!

Barry, consider replying here so the rest of us can learn too! Or at least direct us to your description if you choose to describe your methodology elsewhere.

:)

Barry

I love the work you are doing at the moment. They say that imitation is the greatest form of flattery, and your shots have inspired me to try some still life / lightbox type images. If you had a moment to reply I would love to hear a bit more about your set-up for the 'paper' shots you did. Did you use a normal lightbox? Did it need to be particularly large? Did you black out the rest of the room? Did you use any additional lighting? Any tips gratefully received, but I realise and expect that you may not wish to give away your trade secrets :)

Best wishes

James. Probably easiest to reply as a comment on one of your ort one of my images. Otherwise james.pratt AT marlston.co.uk

Barry, your images are consistently creative and beautiful. I've spent some time looking through your portfolio here. Almost all your images have a strong graphic element, and you use color to support the design of what you present. One characteristic about your work that I love is how nearly every image is a single element that unites it...either a curve that wanders through the image, or some particular directionality, or a monochromatic tone.

This image is particularly appealing in the way the colors seem to move and shimmer and glow in a dynamic way.

You mentioned in your bio that you often think of your father as you work. If so, these images are a real tribute to him. Wonderful work.

Sort of hypnotic also! Hey you have tickets to the Super Bowl? Packers won't be there so I guess I won't...Great stuff Barry. So nice to be back with time to view some wonderful images, maybe I will make the time to create more. Thanks.
