Very good. My suggestion would be a longer focal length to get the roses a little more out of focus. They're trying to get too much attention in this composition and with the softness of the subjects face the look as if on the same focus plane, or nearly so. But that's just my taste. I'm sure this photo was well-received by your client as it should be. Nice.

I saw this picture a little while ago, then I saw another one, and just now a 3rd one from the same series. I kept quiet so far, but it's time to post a few comments. Obviously you know what you are doing, so let's just talk about what I didn't like too much in this overall very good picture. 1) The light on the right side of her face. 2) Her pose and expression - too posy imo... Now, let's see the other 2 in comparison...

Phil they are still running on Sunday night...contact Mags as she has a better handle on when I do them...Al had some great portraits / fashion on last week and you would have loved to see them...I don't know the number of them here but check on Al's name and look at his recent posts....some dynamite sellable fashion stuff with major BALLS....You've improved greatly and I'm really proud of you....Keep it up...

Yeah I just wanted to say that I like this one too. Compositoinally well done with the triangle of her arm leading to the bouquet that reflects the colours and the mood of the portrayed person very well. And because it is less illuminated than the girl it doesnt demand to much attention. Good portrait!

ARTIE ! Ma man. Nice to see you around. I hate that I didn't get to particpate in more of those online white board classes you held. It was just a time thing. You helped me out alot with those onlineinstructions, and our conversations.

Best Wishes,

Beautiful portrait Phillip. This is very well done with one light source. A little more light on left side of Robin's face wouldn't hurt anything. She's definitely paegant material.

Very well done....great capture Phillip...a very 3 dimensional feel to this photo in my eyes.

Good tone and shadow play, its to bad photography has moved away from the mood settings. You have done this mood setting very well, with the flowers showing a quiet setting of reflection which transferred to the subject.

Sorry Jeff, I forgot to answer your question about her complextion. Na, nothing done in PS except to bump the saturation down some.

I used 2 gold inserts in the SB to add warmth to the shot, then bumped the saturation down in PS in post production. She was in a pageant last night. Complextion=10.... ;)

Thanks Jeff for your comments. I don't think there's any blown stuff in this pic. This was done with one light, on her right side of course [medium SB with louvers]. I had a gold reflector to her immediate left side, just out of the frame.

I'm trying to move forward into a different style of photography that I've not done so far. Waiting on some backdrops from Dave Maheu. Hope they come in this week.

What a fine picture Phillip. I like the skin tones and the composition. Was there anything done to the skin in Photoshop? Robin has a completeely unblemished forehead.
Do you think that it may be a tad hot on the bridge of her nose and her forehead on the left? Is it due to the large difference in light value on one side of her face when compared with the other? Nice work any way and I wish I had taken it.

Cheers!
Jeff
