The answer is yes. And the day after that and the day after that and forever. I personally am growing sick of critiques. Not that there is anything wrong with them, but most are of so cerebral and technical in nature that they miss the guts of the image. This image rocks not because it is technically good or bad but because it effects our emotions in a very real way. It calls out to us. For some, it may seem overly sentimental, but for the cat lovers amongst us (I have five myself) it reaffirms our relationships with our feline friends and supports the very human qualities of wanting and needing to be unfettered and loved.

Mmmm... A lot of things to read in these eyes, but we have only 1 eye left to read it. Besides that the picture looks very soft and there is a dark line crossing the top horizontally. I like cats - I even have one ! - but I am not sure if this picture is such a good picture. It could have been very good, but with 2 eyes, sharp enough, and no black line. Sorry, just average in my opinion. I feel we need more criticism on this site. That is how it could help to make us better photographers. I mean this to be constructive. Best regards.

I love this beautiful and highly emotive image. I'm with the others in hoping you rescued this little cutie-pie. It's a heart-rending image. Nice capture.

I agree with everyone and have two cats adopted, one from shelter. The only thing I can add to this picture ? this cat is a fireball of energy, no-sleep, "I did not do it" type :). I can see it in his eyes. He looks said now, but give him a few months and say good buy to a good night sleep.
I hope it was a "no kill" shelter and I'm if it was ? he has a new home by now. Great shot, definitely print it and give it to the shelter.

This is a very moving picture, the B&W and grain really make the shot. I do agree that it's a shame the one bar is obstructing the kittens eye, but still a great shot.

This photo came very close to making me cry (I go to pieces when I see sad or suffering animals). The DOF is great, and the grain works well in creating a suitable atmosphere (almost jail-like). It's a shame the cage bar is right over the kitten's left eye, as I think it lessens the impact a bit, but there's still enough power here to motivate people to think about visiting an animal shelter and saving a life. I agree with CJ about offering this photo to the shelter.

powerful image Chris. Have you ever thought about getting shots of all the caged animals in terrible conditions at puppy mills - so many of them end up right here in these cages eventually, to be destroyed. ooops, back to the image - very powerful indeed, excellent in bw.

Great capture. Being a 'cat person' myself, I can really feel this image. What I really love is the way the surrounding area is blurred out and seemingly distant from the kitten yet still remains a large part of the overall image...as if the kitten is saying, "I?m trapped in a world where I don?t belong. Please help me."
Blink twice if that makes any sense.

Such a sad little face. I think you should offer this photo to the shelter to use for marketing.. I bet their number of adoptions would shoot thru the roof! Great shot!
