I think some cropping off the top would be nice. Maybe re-shoot and get rid of the cheese on the plate of crackers, there seems to be too much orange in one place. Also move the wine glass to the back so there is no odd reflections of things behind it.

Thanks for the comments. It really was lunch - my wife brought it to my workshop and I thought I'd try a shooting the reflection (optical illusion) in the wine glass, that is the reason for the water. The large white spots are very small in the actual photo, so I need to find out why they blew up on me when I up-loaded image.

I've never tried anything like this (photographing it that is) so have to be careful.
Main two things I would change is to get rid of the two reflections in the wine glass and secondly to I would like to be able to see the wine label. Mostly I would agree with everything Lass said and in addition I would use a cheese board instead of plates and and knife with a wooden handle instead of plastic. Keep the cork in the picture but not cropped in half.

PS ten outta ten for healthy eating :)

who eats lunch like this?!!! lets do lunch!!..:P

let me play the bitch for a while...1.why water in the glass when there is the wine? 2. i(personal preference, of course) would like to see the wine bottle label. 3.the block AND slices of cheese is overkill. 4.the cork is distracting. 5.i see your light source(or thats what i think it is)on the glass as reflection.

what i'd like to see: 1.same colour in the background or something punchier to bring out the colour. 2.a healthy crop at the top of the image.3.less clutter.4.more sharp.

I love the green/red combo of the apple and pear...i feel that it can be exploited more and has potential to be the object of focus in this image. i'd love to see a reshoot of this set up...and keep having your great lunches!
