Thank you, Rodney. Please read my reply to Steve Arnoff's comment (just below yours) for a few more details that will interest you. Actually, the lens was F/2.8 but I took this at F/4. Since only a thin strip across the very center of the lens is used while the entire lens assembly turns, the effect of aberrations is minimized and image quality is the very best of which the lens is capable. Which is amazingly good...

Well, Steve, as one curmudgeon to another... thanks for commenting on something that seemed prosaic to you! Actually the scene is far from prosaic in Japan. The church is an embattled minority here (less than 1% of the population), and this was a meeting of over 400 leaders of the church from all over Japan for the launch of the Japanese version of a new course in the fundamentals of the Christian faith used around the world by virtually every denomination--from Salvation Army to Roman Catholic. So really, quite memorable! And I had a personal stake in it because I shared responsibility for creating it.

Let me first admit that I am a terrible curmudgeon, so don't read any further if you don't want to. I think the quality and composition of the shot are excellent. But, the scene is so prosaic that it doesn't really tell an interesting story. (Please don't hate me.)

Roger, as a pastor I don't know which impresses me more, the photographic quality of this excellent panorama or the sanctuary full of people! The sharpness at 2.8 is really impressive. All the light coming into the sanctuary must surely add to the enjoyment of worship there. Thank you for sharing. Rodney

I put this up for you, Chris. I knew at least ONE person on Usefilm would appreciate it, although it's a bit far from the normal run of popular shots. It was this photo and a few others that made me completely happy with my old Widelux.
