Pete, this is a lovely capture - I have not shot alot of birds, but trying David's suggestion so that you have a touch more frontlighting will likely take your images up a notch.

These shots you've posted using a hide and a feeder are great.
Have you thought of moving the blind (if that's possible, and if there wouldn't be a distracting background) or shooting at a different time of day (if the birds are there) to get the light coming from the other direction? The light coming from behind can work for some shots, but I suspect you'll get more with front lighting. Maybe even set up two blinds for different effects or different times of day, if there's a convenient way of doing that without one obstructing the background of the other.
I favor natural light in general, but another alternative is to use a little fill flash to brighten up the subject in a shot like this. The trick is to use just enough fill to improve the color and definition in the feathers, but not so much that it has a "flash" look.
