About This was at the days end - the sun going down - there was that quiet feeling - you could hear from far away even the littlest sound . . working with a simple camera was quiet too .. it makes no noise .. nothing automatic, no motors - just me and the world and nothing else ... and when the long exposure is being made - i feel it and experience it just like i do on the street with my voigtlander, but it's different too because so much happenes within that moment - things move a lot and you have to become envolved with and relate to the scene in different ways (especially in terms of time and speed) .. the challenges are totally different ...

And the image are totally differnt too, it is like this wooden poles are sharing you the feeling looking at this prospect of the relaxing scene, the depth of the image and the glow of light in the middle gives it a otally deep feeling of meditation, ofcourse this one only works in color, the proximity of the color between the sky and the sea is adding alot, it wouldn't be obvious if it was B&W, overall, it is beyond excellence.

Wonderful shot. I remember you (photosig, isn't it?) but something is changed in your photos: more poetry, more attention, a different way to look.

i love this because it seems so relaxing, and tranquil but then we see the city in the distance where the environment is not so relaxing.

Hi John,

Wonderful photo here, and I also enjoyed the rest of your portfolio. I especially like the way the pilings and the clouds draw my eye right towards the distant and strangely low skyline. The muted colors support the ethereal nature of this image.

It's great to have a photographer that photographs Hoboken! I went to college there 1967-71, and it's still one of my favorite places (but I don't get there often enough.)

Best regards,
SteveR

Hi John, I think this is an excellent picture, shadows and highlights blends in a very nice way, I don't know if this is consequence of a pinhole camera but works perfect with the composition... regards, Ricardo

John, it looks like a magical city in the distance, and the wooden poles & thingees in the foreground like some dark sentinels. I sense the quietness you experienced. Very well seen.

For me, this is only a color image. The unique and prolonged calm of these colors and this moment in time is captured by the equally unique camera and prolonged exposure--here lending an emotional depth to a photograph. I am there also, by looking for a long time.... Beautiful! I am awaiting your return to your Voigtlander...not because I wish for you to stop these beautiful haunting images...but I want to see how this experience with photography will affect you through another camera--I have a hunch it will be dramatic and satisfying.

Simply and utterly awesome. This is the type of photo we wish for with "traditional" tools, let alone pinhole cameras. Wonderful.

I liked reading your comments about the photo--its good to hear the emotion behind a photographer's thoughts when he/she is shooting a photo. I've found that if you follow those deep emotions, you can usually capture a scene in an unique manner with a photograph. It seems as if you followed yours as well.

Great work.

Regards-
David
