About The "photo gods" were generous in providing me with very eerie and interesting lighting for an instant when I stopped to take a few pictures back behind Mammoth Springs. A storm was coming up from behind the hill while the sun was still shining. The storm cloud was quickly creeping over to envelope the sun so this light was only available for about 60 seconds. The fellow who pulled up next to me spent so much time assembling his equipment that he missed the shot (as his wife clearly reminded him, while he glared back at her)! Not having control over my competitive tendencies, under my breath I did a little "neener neener"... Am I bad or what? :-)

Carol-- you're right, this is a kind of "nether world" photo. The dramatic sky is great and contrasts starkly with the whitish middle ground-- I like it. I'm curious as to what killed the trees in the foreground though? Also, I really enjoyed your story of the guy who must have been rushing to get his gear set up while you were shooting away. To tell the truth, I've been on both sides of that story;>), but it's still funny. Cheers. Craig

Of course you realize that after an image like this, you are obliged to sacrifice your first born?

God said to Abraham, "Kill me a son"

Abe says, "Man, you must be puttin' me on"

God say, "No." Abe say, "What?"

God say, "You can do what you want Abe, but

Well Abe says, "Where do you want this killin' done?"

God says, "Out on Highway 61."

That's right out of my songbook, can you tell? -Jim

That is eerie Carol, a rather barren looking place! Very lucky indeed, and neenering is perfectly good behaviour.;)

Good title :-) I'd be rather peeved if I had missed this shot too. It does look like an unstable situation in all regards... Luck favors those who come prepared!

Carol nice capture. I love the colors, composition, framing & lighting. The dead tree in the foreground really adds to this shot also. Good one!
