About A darker view of the coast nearing sunset.

A few others in another forum suggested cropping out the bottom rock. I see and like that idea but I'm not 100% sure about it. Thoughts?

Thanks, Sue, Kenneth.

Yeah, that's pretty much the crop. I think the main reason I resisted that crop is because I just wanted this to have a longer feel to it.

I'm leaning strongly towards listening to the overwhelming advice to crop. I just wish I had seen it that way in the field...

Good light and nice subtle colours. I also like the details in the sand and the wave action. Here is my cropping suggestion. This crop leaves the rim-lit rock and the sun at opposite golden means, balancing the shot perfectly.

Steve, this is quite eyecatching. I minimized my window and used the bottom to crop it out, and it does leave a nice picture, but I think the dark rock and long shadow perform a nice balance with the light, detailed sky. You seem to have a progression of intensity that grows as the eye travels upward. Almost a spiritual message - if that's not too hokey a description.

Of course, crop the rock and you're within the rule of thirds, so what do I know? sos
