Hello Mike! Permit to answer you question, as a comment to the picture. I personally cannot tell you why this photo gets alot of attention. But i can tell you why I am interested in this picture. Most photographers are popular, 'cos of the courage and creativity to go against the main laws of Photography. This is a landscape picture and it is in Black and White. I would have called it a superb picture, but when I noticed you did not, take care to see if you had a nice horizon, I would sag the picture wasn made under hard circumstances or you did not care to think about the Horizon.
The contrast of this picture is due to the shadows in the holes and the over exposure on the surface of the rocks. I ams sure when every body sees a nice contrasted picture, one is interested in see the technic and beauty of the picture. But this picture could get more contrast.(Not that the contrast has a problem, it is just that I like picture with very strong contrast. It also has a verg good DOF. I wouldn't put such a picture under Magic light. I would suggest min. DOF. For it is not that sharp. just a small part of the whole picture is sharp. I would say You have a very attractive(my guest for the many views) picture which need more technique.

1. use a filter for such a picture (red could be good). 2. get a straight horizon 3. show more details.
