i agree with mary that the details at the bottom should be cropped, letting the image fade into blackness. this is an affecting piece of statuary, and a good photo of it. yet i have a hard time responding to photos of sculpture. i am reminded of steichen's famous nighttime photos of rodin's balzac, powerful photos that augment that powerful statue's mystique. such pictures set the bar very, very high, but i feel a picture of a work of art needs to accomplish things the original could not...or was not meant to.

I would crop a smidge from the bottom but that is just me. ;)
James will wonder about me if he happens a long and finds me saying this but oh well. This one works very, very well for me but it is a visceral reaction and I will have to think awhile before I understand why. Perhaps is is the child and death joined - companions in sleep - that I understand...
Your vignetting effects seem more natural than mine - I will have to work on mine...
