this a really good and funny man! our friendship means a lot to me. Among other reasons, is being from two different sides of an unfortunately divided island, Cyprus. such a detail-lacked silhouette image could be the only thing i could imagine of a greek cypriot before i could meet them outside of the island. luckily since last april, the border is cracked, though not open, and i can see the other side, the silhouettes are more visible.
Silhouettes fade, to be replaced by details. As we see more and more details, we realise we have been looking in the mirror all these years. The strange silhouette was ours, and so are the details. The bitter revelation is, all those years ago, we hadn't fought the enemy, we had fought ourselves. And we all lost. 30 years and two generations later, perhaps there is a small but distinct opportunity to piece together the shattered Cypriot identity. This is a photograph where the artist isn't only taking the picture of a man, but he's also taking a picture of Cyprus. This is a picture of Cypriots, for Cyprus.
On my images I just capture I don't plan shost I look for them and sometimes we get lucky. Like this dark contrasted image. Nice capture like this image.
very gloomy, your picture :) but hopefully neither for your friendship, nor for the future of cyprus as so many countries divided in bitter wars, maybe yours will reunite again ... and very fine in composition and mood, by the way
