Cute - very cute. I am sure your daughter was very happy. I always wanted a dalmation when I was growing up.

Here is a worked on attachment. Sorry its so late... had some things come up that couldn't be put off. I cropped the image like yours, took the paint brush tool in Photoshop and painted the interior of the mailbox black so that it was all the same... that got rid of a lot of annoying dust marks. On the right hand side of the mailbox I took the rubber stamp cloning tool and went over the grass to eliminate the car and some other stuff. This made the grass look a little rough, so I took the blur tool (looks like a raindrop) and blurred it together, smoothing the edges. I have tried to add a tree in the background so that the dog's head isn't lost in the whiteness of the sky, but nothing really looks natural. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. Thanks for letting me play with your image.

I think I can use this William... and just thought that I would say that you did a great job at changing the background, after seeing the original. Just need to work on making it all flow! I will work on the pic tomorrow.

See what you can do with this Kim--or do I need to send it another way/

Well, the only way to learn is to practice... what did you try here? Using the blur tool to smudge the background? If you want, you could send me the original and I could work on it in PS and then let you know what I did and how to achieve more natural looking corrections. Just a thought. It might be easier to have someone work on it and then let you know how it was done so you can try it out. And yes, this is definitely worth the post. Every time I look at it, I smile!

Good eyes--of course this was just a test--no, actually, couldn't find the neg and this was scanned from a poor print. Also, there was so garbage in the background that I tried to clean up--gotta learn sometime. Didn't do a very good job but thought it was worth the post anyway. sorry!

Hi William,
the dog is lovely and also the idea is sweet. But what with the light on the top of the head? I think it makes the Pic no more natural, a bit artifial...did you make it with a purpose or was just an exposure effect?

The scan looks a little dirty, but the concept is great! What a cute photo! Well executed!
